Comfort zone

The architectural design of the building of the UWM University Library constructed in 2007 assumed the creation of comfortable conditions for study, work and social contacts.

The comfort of the UWM Library users is ensured, among others, by

  • space for free individual and group study, furnished with movable furniture, i.e. soft chairs, lamps, puffs and desktop computers (Entresol, 1st floor, winter garden, 2nd floor)
  • quiet work zone (1st floor: Special Collections Department, Reference Department and Periodicals Reading Room, 2nd floor: Subject Collections Department)
  • 8 rooms for individual study (Entresol, 1st floor)
  • 24/7 return of books (dropbox, ground floor)
  • self-lending with SelfCheck (Teaching Collection, ground floor)
  • access to free scanners (1st and 2nd floor)
  • printing facilities (Main Lending Desk, ground floor)
  • wireless Internet (Eduroam network)
  • electronic payments (Libsmart Payment)

A stay in the University Library is even more enjoyable with:

  • the exhibition space (the Entresol, 1st floor, courtyard under the dome, 2nd floor)
  • cultural activities (the Cultural Library, including the Traveller’s Library meetings, film screenings as part of the Zamów pokaz! (Order Show) service, Gamegrinder: Kortowo mini-convent of board games)

Remote use of the Library resources is easy and convenient with:

  • the ‘Primo’ research search engine (simultaneous search of licensed digital resources of the Library and open academic resources)
  • data authentication system ensuring remote access to the collections of the UWM University Library - HAN (Hidden Automatic Navigator)
  • abundant e-resources (Polish and foreign research databases, e-books and e-journals, Warmińsko-Mazurska Digital Library)

The Library offers workstations for persons with disabilities, equipped with suitable equipment (e.g. Braille printer, digital enlargers).
